Education for genetics professionals

Image of Daniel Pique

My name is Daniel Piqué, and I am a clinical geneticist with a passion for medical education. My goal is to help genetics trainees feel confident going into their board exams by teaching relevant information in a clear and easily-understandable manner.

Many ABGC and ABMGG genetics training programs unfortunately lack a structured board-prep curriculum. There is also a lack of high-quality, affordable board prep resources. As a result, dozens of talented trainees each year do not pass their board exams, resulting in delayed board certification, exam retake fees, and low morale. My hope is that StudyRare can help fill this gap by offering engaging, board-focused study materials for the ABGC and ABMGG exams.

I am fortunate to be working alongside several very talented individuals as part of these efforts. Lynsey Rodriguez, MS, LCGC, is a genetic counselor at Valley Children's hospital in Madera, CA and has been the co-director of the StudyRare ABGC Board Review Bootcamp since October 2023. Lynsey graduated from the genetic counseling program at UCSF in 2023. Stanze Quezada, MS, CGC, also graduated from UCSF GC program and recently started as Director of Strategy and Operations in April 2024. In this position, she is helping expand the reach of StudyRare through a variety of partnerships and social media.

We are constantly thinking about how to best teach the principles of clinical genetics and genetic counseling. If you have ideas, I would love to hear from you. Feel free to connect on LinkedIn, follow on Twitter/X and YouTube, and reach out with questions or suggestions.
